RTT – Real Time Tomography
The Real-Time Tomograph RTT
The high-speed real-time tomography RTT (for baggage screening).
There are hardly any reasons not to use the real-time tomograph RTT for passenger baggage screening at airports or parcel screening in air cargo, because:
- the throughput of an RTT is up to 1,800 pieces of baggage per hour.
- the belt speed of the BHS is either 0.25 or 0.5 m/second.
- with approximately 11 m³ footprint, the RTT can be integrated into existing BHS lines. This saves conversion and installation costs as well as conversion time.
- the RTT is environmentally friendly and energy-efficient, and also features sleep and standby modes.
- the real-time tomograph no longer has a rotating gantry, meaning virtually no moving mechanical parts, thereby saving considerable maintenance costs while providing higher availability (highest MTBF).
- the stationary, ring-shaped arrangement of X-ray sources and detection sensors does not rotate mechanically but is activated and queried electronically in a rotating manner. This innovative technology allows faster “rotation” than is possible with mechanically rotating systems. More images with higher resolution can be generated without mechanical wear.
- the super-high resolution of the fully volumetric 3D images enables better detection at the lowest false alarm rate, saves personnel, and thus increases efficiency with the fastest transit
times from check-in to aircraft or throughput in air cargo parcel screening. - the ring of X-ray sources is equipped with a high number of additional sources that provide high redundancy. The failure of an X-ray tube no longer shuts down your operation for 1 to 2 days, as the RTT operator simply needs to switch to a new, unused source to continue working.
- furthermore, the additional X-ray sources are available should the EU increase requirements accordingly in the future. The RTT is thus “future proof.” New EU requirements can be met quickly and cost-effectively with a software update and do not require the purchase of a new device.
- the RTT is ECAC Standard 3 EDS certified and STP-compliant
