Itemizer
The Itemiser® 5X is the latest and most advanced explosives and narcotics trace detection device in the established Itemiser family from Rapiscan Systems. It can detect a wide range of narcotics and explosives in the nanogram range. Ionization is performed by UV radiation (non-radioactive) and is not subject to any regulatory restrictions.
Substance identification is performed by comparing measured values with optimized, integrated detection libraries and advanced software algorithms. Areas of application include passenger, personnel, and cargo/goods screening.
The Itemiser® 5X is approved by the ECAC (European Civil Aviation Conference) for screening passengers, personnel, and cargo. It is also listed and certified in Annex R3 as approved security equipment in accordance with §10a LuftSiG for the areas of responsibility under §§ 5 and 8 LuftSiG. Additionally, the device meets the requirements of the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and is listed as approved technology in the Air Cargo Screening Technology List (ACSTL).
Rapiscan Systems offers a special sampling wand for the Itemiser® 5X. This innovative repeating wand functions as an extended arm of the operator and prevents direct contact with the sampling strip or the object surface. It also helps maintain spatial distance from the person being screened. An easy-to-use counter wheel reliably documents the sampling operations performed.
